In short

Who we are

This policy covers the Parlecho app for iPhone and the website parlecho.com, run by Parlecho (“we”). The Support page tells you how to reach us.

What we collect

Your account and device

The first time the app connects to our server, it creates an account for you without asking anything. We store a random account ID, a random install ID that the app generates, the platform (iOS), the app version and the time the app last connected. We also store the AppTransaction ID that Apple issues for your download of the app, which we use to verify your right to purchases. Sign-in tokens are stored only in a hashed form and expire.

If you sign in with Apple

Signing in is optional. We store the identifier Apple gives to Parlecho for you, and whether you chose to hide your email address. We do not store your email address or your name. We also keep a token from Apple, encrypted, so that we can end the connection with Apple when you delete your account. If you stop using Sign in with Apple for Parlecho, or delete your Apple Account, Apple sends us a notice and we end your sessions or delete your account accordingly.

Your learning progress

To restore your progress on another device or after a reinstall, the app sends us: the lessons you have started and finished, when each word or phrase is due for review, your mistakes, the days you studied, XP, the results of speaking practice (counts and scores, never audio or the text of what you said), your choices in setup (interface language, language you learn, goal, minutes per day, level), checkpoints you passed, your weekly rhythm and rest days, saved phrases, and your progress in role swap and listening practice. The app also tells us your time zone so that the free daily allowance follows your day.

Purchases

When you buy or restore a subscription or the lifetime purchase, Apple gives the app a signed record of the transaction. We check it and keep it: transaction and product identifiers, dates, status and whether it was a test purchase. Apple also sends us notices about renewals, expirations and refunds. If you restore your purchases on another device or after a reinstall, the purchase moves to your current account and we keep a log of that move (the transaction, the two accounts and the date) together with the purchase record. We never see your card details or your Apple ID.

Usage statistics, only if you allow them

If you agree, the app sends anonymous usage events, for example that a lesson was started or completed, or that the purchase screen was shown. Each event carries the app version, the version of the lessons, the time, and a random analytics ID that is not connected to your account, your device identifiers or your Apple ID. Events never contain names, email addresses, locations, text you typed or recordings. You can turn this off in Settings at any time.

Which ad brought you, only if you allow usage statistics

If you installed Parlecho after tapping one of our Apple Search Ads ads, and you allowed usage statistics, the app sends our server a one-time anonymous token from Apple, once. Our server gives it to Apple, which answers with campaign information only: the campaign, ad group and keyword, and the country or region. We store this with your account to measure how well our ads work. The token and the answer contain no name and no device identifier, and the answer does not tell us who you are. If you did not come from an ad, we store only that fact. This information is deleted when you delete your account.

Reports you send

If you report a problem with a lesson, we receive which item it was, the version of the lessons, the reason you chose and an optional note of up to 500 characters, linked to your account ID. Please do not put personal information in the note.

Technical logs

When the app or this website contacts our servers, we log the time, the address requested and the result, to keep the service running and to stop abuse. Our application logs do not record IP addresses or account identifiers, and they are rotated automatically by size. To limit abuse, the server briefly counts requests per IP address in memory only; this is never written down. Our traffic passes through Cloudflare, which sees IP addresses and requests while delivering them.

What stays on your device

Your voice recordings stay on your iPhone, in storage that only Parlecho can read. They are never uploaded. By default they are deleted automatically after 30 days, and you can delete them at any time in Settings. Speech recognition that checks which words you said runs on your iPhone, using Apple’s on-device recognition.

How we use data

We do not sell or rent your data, we do not show ads, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not use your data to train AI models. Parlecho does not send what you say or type to any AI service.

Who receives data

We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

How long we keep data

Deleting your data

In the app, open Settings and choose to delete your account. We confirm only once the deletion is done. It immediately removes your sign-in sessions, devices, progress, entitlements and ad campaign information, detaches your purchase records from your profile and progress, and ends the link with Apple if you signed in with Apple. A minimal record remains, with a random ID and dates, as proof that the deletion was carried out; if you had signed in with Apple, it temporarily also holds the encrypted Apple token until Apple confirms that the connection has ended. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: you manage that in your Apple ID settings. To delete recordings on your iPhone, use the delete button in Settings or delete the app. If you cannot open the app, make a privacy request (see Contact below).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable form, withdraw consent you gave (for example for usage statistics), and complain to your data protection authority. Make a privacy request as described under Contact below and we will reply within 30 days. Most of this you can do yourself in the app.

Children

Parlecho is for everyone and is not aimed specifically at children. We do not ask for names, email addresses or other identifying details, and we do not run advertising or tracking. If you are a parent or guardian and want the data of a child deleted, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Sign-in tokens are stored hashed and the Apple token is stored encrypted. Access to our server is limited to what is needed to run the service.

International processing

Apple and Cloudflare operate worldwide, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where the law requires it, these providers rely on recognised safeguards for such transfers.

Changes

When we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page and, for changes that matter, tell you in the app.

Contact

For questions or requests about your data, open a privacy request on our public issue tracker. The tracker is public, so do not post your recovery code, account ID, voice recordings or any personal information there. Say only that you have a privacy request, and we will point you to a private way to verify it. For other questions, see the Support page.
